I'm Kunjana, and I make sandals the way my family has always made shoes — by hand, meant to last. Sole Fry isn't trying to be everywhere or everything. We make leather sandals in small batches, the old way, because that's the only way we know how to make something worth keeping.
This craft isn't new to us. My father, Anand Parekh, grew up around the shoe business — his father and uncle spent decades exporting footwear internationally, long before Sole Fry existed. I grew up around that same craft, just never got to see it reach women here, directly.
Small Footsteps - We started the brand in a workshop with a handful of skilled artisans, making sandals one pair at a time. No shortcuts, no mass production — just craftsmanship, and word of mouth from customers who noticed the difference.
Bumps in the Road - As we grew, the market changed around us. Big platforms pushed for steep discounts. Cheaper, faster alternatives multiplied. We could have chased the same race — lower prices, faster turnarounds, more collections, more often. We chose not to. We stayed small-batch and handmade, even when it would have been easier not to.
Renaissance & Bigger Better Aspirations - We've since invested in doing this better — refining how we work, without losing what made us us. Sole Fry today runs on the same principle we started with: buy less, buy better. Fewer collections, made properly, meant to stay in your wardrobe for years, not seasons.
